ABC 123 is a collection born in pursuit to create bold, captivating and original art. Something different. Something distinctly my own.
A celebration of creative spirit and the beauty in non traditional subject matter. Named after some words I strive to live by…ALWAYS BE CREATIVE, is my 3rd collection and exhibit of original artwork. Driven by creativity. Inspired by recovery. Created by hand, by me, for me. I only hope you connect with and love them, as I do.
Pages torn from magazines, old novels and newspapers create the base layer for each piece and inform the painting's direction. Swaths of colour are applied and partially removed. Vertical and horizontal lines, scratched into wet paint create a feeling of movement and blur the delineation of space. Random pencil marks and doodles appear then disappear. Intersecting lines interact with paint and paper. Some will remain, while most wait to be obscured by additional layers. Areas of solid and textured white connect and overlap with color and collage. Paint is removed to create meandering lines and squiggles revealing the colors beneath. Bold black thematic numbers, words and arrows applied in varying size, scale and position.
Creating a graphic feel and striking juxtaposition to the abstract layers. Each painting is unique in subject matter and hypnotizingly striking.
